5 FALL STAPLES FOR LESS

Happy Thursday all!  I am needing to go back to my writing calendar and start scheduling my posts out again.  I was somewhat drawing a blank for new material today until I came across a new blog, Daily Dose of Design, and was inspired by her 12 picks for fall staples.  There is an amazing ombre sweater by +American Eagle Outfitters that I'm going to keep my eye on.  That got me to thinking and then looking over the call outs for fall fashion this year.  I love looking through the style experts picks, but it always makes me sad looking at the high end, designerwear that I can't afford.  With that, I looked at a few fall staples and found affordable look alikes to allow you to refresh your wardrobe at a tenth of the cost.

1.  Classic Trench

2.  Wrap Sweater

Have you ever watched The Fall?  If you haven't, you should watch it for 2 reasons 1) it's a great show on Netflix 2) Gillian Andersen's character, Stella Gibson, has amazing style.  It's how I want to dress when I become a big girl (oh wait, I am, but alas, my buisness wardrobe is sorely lacking due to a long time working environment of business casual).  In one of the pivotal episodes, Stella wears a red wrap sweater that's by Diane von Furstenberg.  I think my first pick by Banana Republic is gorgeous, close in style, made of merino wool, on sale and you can currently buy it for $61.

3.  Crossbody

Drawstring

Flap Cover

4.  Suede Shopper

5.  Pumps

When I think of an investment I should have made in my wardrobe, giving me a lot of bang for my buck, it would be a pair of the pointed-toe pumps.  The ones that do it best are Manolo Blahnik BB, Gianvito Rossi, and Jimmy Choo Agnes.  I took a lot across ShopStyle and found some pumps that get close to the designer brands.  I think my favorite neutral is the one by Sam Edelman and my favorite fun take on this classic shoe would be the Sole Society and Mod Cloth shoes with the bows.  How cute!!  Last, have you ever heard of or used Rank & Style?  It's a site that pulls together top ten lists based on buzz, customer reviews, and its sales.  The Michael Michael Kors Flex pump is number 4 on there list as a classic black pump based on user reviews and its sales.  At $99 it's already a good deal, but you can buy it in red for 50% off or buy it in gray suede at 30% off.
