October's TKBTB with Faith & Halloween Favorites

5. What is the best part of Halloween? What's the worst? The best - Candy. The worst - Trick or treating. Me: You don't like it (since that's how you get candy)? Well, sometimes I do when it's Halloween.

So I am a HUGE chocolate fan, which would be tough on a deserted island due to heat and melting factor. Hopefully I'd find a good hideaway like Tom Hanks in Castaway to provide some shade. Anyway, I digress.

1. Carmello - to satisfy my love of caramel and chocolate

2. Reese peanut butter cups - when isn't the combo of peanut butter and chocolate awesome? (the answer is - it's always awesome)

3. Butterfingers - I don't think anything else needs to be said; they're butterfingers.

FRIDAY FEELING HALLOWEEN EDITION - Inexpensive & Fun Costumes

We're back with #FridayFeeling Halloween Edition. Are you starting to think about the holiday and what your kiddos will dress up as? Below are some affordable costume ideas that could be matching mommy & me costumes. For a majority of these costumes, you could use everyday clothing or buy wardrobe staples as the costume base that your child can wear again. I'd like to do a follow up post on daddy & me costumes that could extend into a full family theme. I was going to do it as one big post and majorily ran out of time (maybe because I was fixated on boots yesterday).

Mommy & Me Costume

1. Witch

Spend $10 on accessories and invest in a black dress that you can wear for other ocassions.

Throw on some knee high socks to liven up your look more.

2. Little Red Riding Hood

My Mommy outfit totals under $75; girls' outfit totals $38. My thought with the men's blanket scarf - it would be large enough to drape over your head to serve as the hood. Rather than buying a red cape (I found a couple on Etsy under $50) that you might not wear again, buy a blanket scarf that you'll get plenty of wear out of and it's only $22! The red sweater cape by Target's Genuine Kids Oshkosh line is so stinking cute. I have it on good authority my mom got this as a birthday present for Faith and I'm pretty excited to see it on her.

3. Dorothy

The only thing that I don't see as a practical investment are the glittery ruby red shoes. But, at $30 that's not too shabby in terms of a price tag on extraneous stuff you'll never use again. Although you could both totally rock your ruby red glittery shoes during the holidays.

4. Princess / Queen / Lady

These dresses and headband are a bit of a stretch for us moms, BUT, if you plan on going to King Richard's fair for family fun (check out this post), then you could totally reuse it. The dresses are a bit racier than I'd normally wear, but I think I could totally rock the black lacy number at a wedding. Now if someone could get married, I've totally justified it.

For the little girls' dress up, the Belle princess dress is already in Faith's closet (you saw her in it here) so it would cost me $5 to complete her costume. The second dress option she'd love since it's a rainbow dress.

5. Hogwarts wizard

So this is the only costume that doesn't involve buying some clothing staple. But you can get the Hogwarts wizard accessories you need for under $30. Then you can wear whatever you feel like underneath as long as it's white top and black bottoms.

Here is the second installment on my new weekly series to cover my top style, home decor, and sales picks from the week to inspire some weekend shopping. Below are 5 things are my radar from exploring Pinterest, Bloglovin', browsing at +T.J.Maxx, and online sales. #FridayFeeling

1. FALL JACKETS

I saw this amazing jacket on Blaire Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific and instantly fell in love with the style. However, it is crazy *ss expensive so only in my wildest dreams if Nordstrom was sponsoring me and wanted to give me this Red Valentino jacket, I'm not gonna lie, I'd take it.

Good news is - the adorable dress that you're catching a glimpse of with the tie neck is affordable at $79 by Wayf.

So I was online browsing for toddler girl fall styles, specifically looking for boot recommendations. I came across this picture and LOVED everything about this outfit. (If you have boot recommendations - send them my WAY!! Please - I'd be so grateful.)

Who knew that some of Kardashian Kids clothing line was cute? This is a jacket by the brand sold at Toys R Us, but is no longer available. Below are a round up of cute, similar shape jackets that will look adorable on your little girl for the fall. I love how the jacket flares out, which would look great with a flouncy empire waist dress or skirt.

For Dean - Bomber jackets

I don't feature things for Dean as often as I do Faith - sorry about that - but I think you can understand that I'm drawn to girls' clothing more. I think a bomber jacket would be great for fall, especially with a hoodie layered underneath to provide extra warmth. The first jacket is my absolute favorite. I was able to find this outfit set at +Marshalls for $19.99, but even at $40.50 it's a great deal when you thrown in thhe corduroy pants and t-shirt. It totally brings me back to Top Gun.

2. PLAID BUTTON DOWN

The shirt is by +LOFT and they are having 40% off sale on everything until tomorrow morning. Take advantage and get this shirt for $35.70.

My friend Jill also made me aware that +Gap is going to have a new collaboration coming out with Pendelton. As part of that collaboration, they are incorporating plaid wool into denim jackets and created a plaid baseball hat. I can't find a picture, but keep an eye out. The two pieces I saw on their yesterday looked wicked cute.

3. SMOCKED DRESSES

Does anything else need to be said? Smocked neckline, corduroy material, little embroidered prints - so, so, so cute. These dresses would be great for fall and spring.

4. CHOKERS

With talk of plaid flannel baseball caps, I thought I'd talk about another 90s trend that's making a comeback - the choker. The nice thing about this trend - you can find some really stylish, cheap options. +Nasty Gal, +American Eagle Outfitters, and +ASOS have some great under $20 ones available.

5. PUMPKIN SPICE

I know this isn't style or home decor related, but I'm pretty excited that pumpkin spice is back at Starbucks and if ones not close by, Dunkin Donuts. When they first rolled it out in August, it was too soon, but it feels like now is the time to enjoy these delicious flavored beverages since it's September (even though today is going to be muggy and 90).

Dean Does Lately...11 Months Old!!

I can't believe my little man turned 11 months old last week and that next month we'll be hosting his one year old birthday party at the house. I don't want to start talking about it because my anxiety will kick in when I think about all the things we need to do to get our house ready for company.

DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES

Cruising along our sectional

Has 3 teeth now with one top snaggle tooth (so, so cute!)

FAVORITE TOY

This toy is great as it sings, teaches numbers, letters, & colors and is really sturdy. Dean can pull himself up and it doesn't move; however, it is light enough that he can walk it across our living room floor. It's a great toy and snagged it at Target for $24 on Black Friday. I'd definitely recommend investing in one of these, especially since this is an inexpensive toy at its regular price of $36.

FUN MOMENTS

On Friday, we had a fun day at the Fall River library where they hosted a Paw Patrol event with Skye and Chase in attendance for the kids to meet and take pictures. We met up with my friend Alani and her two sons afterwards heading to her house to let the fun times continue. Our oldest children were born 10 days apart and get along really well. It was great weather and got us out of the house for a whole day outdoors. Sometimes when I stay in with the kids all day on Friday, I lose a little bit of my sanity. Even though Dean is no longer at the age where he sleeps during our trips, he does enjoy being out and about. It's going to be hard when he starts walking - I'm really going to have to enforce the stroller. I forgot my stroller on Friday, so I carried him around at the library. He's just way too heavy in the car seat now that he's over 20 lbs.

In the bottom two pictures, you can see Dean in his baptism outfit before church. I purchased the Michael outfit through Amazon from the shop One Small Child (also connect through their website). I really liked the quality of the outfit; it's 100% cotton. I purchased the 24M size based on the lengths in the size chart since I didn't want the outfit to be too snug. When it arrived a few days after ordering (thank you Amazon Prime!), it appeared really long so I washed and dried it a few days before. It definitely shrunk a little bit and fit perfect for the big day. The venue we hosted our family at afterwards was great and they had an ice cream sundae station, which was a BIG HIT with everyone. I'm really hoping that my mom will send along her pictures soon so I can post some additional photos.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe for Faith

This is a quick post for today, but I started to consider Faith's current wardrobe and the recent season change. Now that the weather is taking a turn for the better, I've been looking through her clothes for the spring. The major issue I'm running into is that my little lady is growing and her clothes are starting to get a bit short. Looking around at my favorite stores for toddler clothing, I've pulled together a spring capsule wardrobe for Miss Faith totaling 20 items.
